Nestled between two busy streets in the heart of Antwerp, the enchanting alleyway twists and turns pasts picturesque buildings, boutiques and cafes. And while its right in the centre of town, it somehow feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.Dating back to the 16th-century, Vlaeykensgang is one of Antwerp’s only remaining medieval streets. Vlaeykensgang was on the brink of demolition during the 1960s, but antique dealer Axel Vervoordt came to the rescue by purchasing and restoring it. Grote Markt is one of Antwerp’s most iconic places and it boasts UNESCO World Heritage status to prove it.
